SPAM - If you receive a number of emails that you shouldn't there are few things you can do to stop people sending them:

  • Looking at the header information contained within most of these emails (to find out how to view the headers in your email program check here) shows you which domain they came from - check the 'Received from' address.

  • go to WhoIs and input the domain name. Once you've found the details, send a report to the site's owner, along with a copy of the email.

You might want to investigate http://spamcop.net/ for more information and assistance tracking the sender of unwanted messages.

You might as well install this excellent FREE program called MailWasher. Once you've installed and configured it to recognize your friends' email addresses (very simple import from you default email client like Outlook or Outlook Express), it checks your emails before you download them into your email program and deletes or bounces back and spam so that it appears as if it hasn't reached a valid email address.
