All You Need Is Love

Between 1:00-1:30 pm on Monday 3 June, wherever you were in the UK, in city centres, towns and villages in your street, back garden or even on your sofa, you could take part in this massed performance. All you had to do was to watch BBC ONE or listen to your BBC local radio station.

On the Front - the best of local music

  • Fludgers Stage - jazz, folk, light rock.

  • Rock Stage at the Cork - second main stage that was dedicated to the best of the rock and pop.

  • Town Hall Stage - BBC Radio Suffolk stage offered a wide range of music for every taste.

  • Youth Stage at the Leisure Centre - was a chance for the under 16's to have a go at DJ-ing and mixing.

Marathon Music "50 Hours for 50 Years" - Marathon attempt to complete 50 hours of DJ-ing (an hour for every year of Queen's reign).

The East Anglian Air Ambulance Charity, in conjunction with Ipswich Hospital Radio, Radio Suffolk and ‘Lix Night Club’, was helping to celebrate this major event of ‘BBC Music Live’ with a sponsored ‘Music Play-In’. Located at ‘Lix Night Club’ (sea front) the first 20 Hours were an ongoing ‘Disco Party’ presented by their resident DJ.

The 50 hours began at *pm (20.00 hrs.) Saturday 1st June to 10pm (22.00) on Monday 3rd June. The remaining 30 hours Ipswich Hospital Radio (who this year celebrate 30 years of broadcasting to the staff and patients) presented a variety of programmes.  These were relayed back to the hospital (some live) and also to Radio Suffolk.

The charity’s Suffolk Fundraising Co-ordinator, Andrew Caldecott, said: "this is a great weekend not only to increase public awareness of the ‘Anglia 1’  Service within the region but also the opportunity to fundraise for the Charity, Ipswich Hospital Radio and the main beneficiary Barnardos.  A very big thank you to the people of Felixstowe and the region for their continuing support".
