After having won on the field against the Greeks thanks to the double team of Andrea Blazevic and the Palermitan Sara Romeo - "lent" to the Croatian team due to them having a player missing - they had to suffer elimination from the main screen because the rules did not allow this substitution of an athlete from a different nation.

An unpleasant episode, but no drama was made, not even a protest. In fact, everyone was with Sara Romeo, a young athlete that had only just turned 14, and Andrea Blazevic, also 14.

"Obviously it’s a pity for us all - explains Stjepan Ipsa, leader of Korcula’s team - that we didn’t get through to the quarter-finals. The most important and wonderful thing is the friendship that we have seen between Sara and Andrea. The Island Games serve this purpose: to unite our kids helping them to grom into healthy adults. The two girls get on well together and in these few days they have developed a great friendship. Sara has not only been a par of our team, but sleeps together with our other athletes. She is one of us."

This episode has not gone unnoticed. The tennis team from the small Croation island could even be up for the prize for fair play by the Coji, the organisation that organises the Island Games.

20^th May 06 The Island Games Sicilia 2006 are scheduled from 22nd to 28th May. The beginning of the X edition of the Games is coming. It can be considered as a mini Olympics between the 22 participant islands: The Azores, Corsica, Guadalupe, Reunion, The Balearic Islands, Crete, Jersey, Sardinia, The Canaries, Djerba, The Faroe Islands, Madeira, Sicily, Martinique, Cape Verde, Elba, Malta, The Isle of Wight, Cypre, Corfu, Korcula and Mayotte.

20^th April 06 Festivala Istruga Summer Music Festival - From 1st June till the end of August, in a bay of Struga near Brna village on a Korcula island, come and enjoy various styles of music: from mediterranean, lounge, latin pop, afro pop, reggae, etc. This will be happening along the whole week provided by Croatian and international DJs in addition to concerts from Croatian pop singers and groups.

24^th March 06 Aruba - I've dedicated a few pages to Aruba, small island off the coast of Venezuela, where I've spent last two weeks and had lifetime experience. Feel free to browse numerous photos I've taken while I was there. I was fascinated by many things in Aruba, but beaches and Arubans were something special.
