MapZone - This is a beautifully animated site, designed and maintained by Ordnance Survey to help children aged 11-16 years develop skills in mapping and map-related geography.

NASA World Wind - check a stunning satellite views of the Earth.

Windows Live Local - This site offers stunning 45o bird's-eye views of major US cities, including Boston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Seattle, and there are plans to expand this to other major cities, including London and other European capitals.

World Timezone Map - A map showing the World Time Zones.

Flash Earth - This Flash-based map combines satellite imagery from both Google Maps and Windows Live Local.

Live Search Maps - Microsoft's Live Search Maps provides stunning three-dimensional aerial imagery and detailed maps.

Live Train Map - A clever idea, this site shows an estimate of the progress of all the trains currently on their way to any of 13 stations around the UK. You can speed the trains up by factor of 10 if you wish, but only on the site; sadly not in the real world.

MSN Video Player - Microsoft has launched this TV-on-demand service to complement rather than compete with the likes of BBC iPlayer and 4oD. Most of the content offered by MSN Video Player is sourced from the Beeb and Channel 4 including such classic programmes as Elizabeth I, The Young Ones and Around the World in 80 Days as well as recent shows such as Mock the Week, How to Look Good Naked and Derren Brown: Trick of the Mind. Everything is FREE to watch and, while the picture quality isn’t brilliant, the videos stream smoothly enough once you get past the obligatory ads.
