Ovation introduced the first acoustic/electric guitars in 1971. They were an instant success with pros, and a whole new category of instruments was created. It was well over 10 years before other guitarmakers took the hint and began to offer pickup/preamp systems.

Nowadays, purely acoustic guitars are a rarity on stage. Over the last three decades, Ovation has maintained its acoustic/electric leadership position. Today, more than 95% of all Ovations sold around the world are acoustic/electrics. Ovation offers three distinct pickups, each one matched to specific models - all designed to deliver highest level of performance.

Hi-Output - Max headroom with over 12dB more output than aftermarket pickups.

Tru-Blanace - Exceptional string-to-string balance with any string gauge.

Thinline - Quick response and superior dynamic range for exceptional solo performance.

OVATION CELEBRITY

Another important fact, the Ovation sound that made the acoustic guitar a viable electric instrument is now within everyone's reach. Ovation Celebrity has center-soundhole, rosewood fingerboard. It is built by Ovation's Pacific-based subsidiary and it benefits from the same USA-made Lyrachord body as its more upscale American brothers.

FEATURES

Minimal bracing = Maximum Sound
The Celebrity features A-shaped bracing that was perfected over the last few years through a computer modeling process. This technology was once only available in more expensive instruments.

The Celebrity Mahogany Top
Like its hue, the sound of the mahogany top Celebrity is a bit darker and moodier than its spruce top brother.

The Celebrity Natural Finish
The Celebrity cutaway boasts almost two full octaves of fingerboard access.

Every Ovation Celebrity guitar use the all-new OP20 preamp, with three eq bands and a Pre-Shape circuit for great tonal flexibility. The chromatic tuner is easy to use and helps you stay perfectly in-tune even when using open or non-standard tunings.

In past, I always wondered what kinds of strings are used on Ovation Guitars?

I've found out now that you can use D'Addario EXP16 (.012-.053) Phosphor Bronze strings on any Ovation guitar (EXP38 for 12-string guitar). Another string recommended is the Adamas 1818 (.012-.053) Phosphor Bronze. You can use whatever string suits your playing style. Heavier or lighter strings might require a truss rod adjustment. For nylon string guitars recommended are the Adamas 4444 or the Savarez Alliance high tension.

Hope you will enjoy your Ovation guitar as I am enjoying mine.
